Del 10 al 20 de julio, se realiza en el espacio virtual el foro sobre Promoción del Trabajo Decente para Jóvenes en el cual tienen su participación compañeros y compañeras de la CSA. Este foro busca reflexionar y discutir la situación del Empleo Juvenil en Iberoamérica. Se debatirá diversos temas como el impacto de la crisis en el empleo juvenil en países de América Latina, formación profesional para la inserción laboral y políticas de empleo juvenil en los países latinoamericanos. Como producto final, el informe que recoja los principales aportes de los y las participantes en el foro, será presentado por el Espacio Iberoamericano de Juventud (EIJ) en la Reunión Regional de la OIT para la Promoción del Trabajo Decente para los y las jóvenes, que se celebrará en la ciudad de Lima, Perú en octubre.

On October 7 2009 the trade union movement is organising a World Day for Decent Work for the second time. This is an unparalleled opportunity for trade unions and organisations interested in Decent Work all around the world to join a broad global mobilisation involving a large number of people and a wide range of activities. A successful day will focus attention on the urgent need for a new globalisation, and also provide a basis for the trade union movement in every continent to join in a common action. ITUC LAUNCHES CAMPAIGN AGAISNT NUCLEAR WEAPONS

Brussels, 10 July 2009: The ITUC is launching today an international campaign for nuclear disarmament, in the lead-up to the critically important United Nations Review of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) in May 2010. A focal point of the campaign is a petition addressed to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon calling for strong and clear conclusions to the NPT Conference, and signing of the treaty by all UN member states.

The campaign is being run in cooperation with the worldwide “Mayors for Peace” group, which covers more than 2,000 cities in over 130 countries.

“Peace and disarmament are founding principles of the ITUC, and while there are positive signs from Russia and the USA on reducing nuclear stockpiles, the international trade union movement is extremely concerned about the prospect of further nuclear proliferation, particularly in North Asia, South Asia and the Middle East. The only way to deal with this is through multilateral negotiations, and the 2010 NPT Review is tremendously important in that regard,” said ITUC General Secretary Guy Ryder.

There are currently almost 24,000 nuclear warheads in existence, with a destructive power equivalent to 400,000 times the power of the bomb dropped on Hiroshima in 1945. Nuclear arms account for a significant portion of global arms expenditure, which reached an all-time high of US$1.4 trillion in 2008, an increase of 45% over the preceding decade.

The ITUC is also calling for international momentum on other agreements to curb nuclear proliferation and the spread of other weapons of mass destruction, and for effective regulation of the global trade in conventional weapons including light arms, which are responsible for at least 500,000 deaths worldwide each year.

“Success in achieving major cuts in arms spending would free up resources for urgent economic and social spending needs, to help the global economy pull out of the deep worldwide recession which is costing tens of millions of jobs. Crucially, it would go a long way towards helping the international community meet the UN’s Millennium Development Goals, which look less likely than ever to be achieved. Dealing with the root social and economic causes of conflict to avoid further wars would be far more feasible if the sufficient development aid funds were available,” said Ryder.

The ITUC campaign also stresses the vital importance of ensuring that the transition from military to socially-useful expenditure be done in a way which supports and protects the livelihoods of those working in the arms industry, through “just transition” measures along similar lines to the adjustments needed to tackle climate change.

CURSO CEFIR - INTEGRAÇÃO REGIONAL MERCOSUL

Com realização na sede da CEFIR, em Montevidéu, Uruguai, entre os dias 6 a 10 do mês de julho de 2009, aconteceu a etapa 2 (presencial) do curso de “Capacitação em Integração Regional – MERCOSUL”.

Com o objetivo central de consolidar e aprofundar conhecimentos e destrezas consideradas fundamentais para o desenvolvimento de jovens líderes do processo de integração regional, este curso objetiva tornar esses jovens capazes para incidir com eficácia em seus respectivos âmbitos de ação regional.

Nesta edição do curso estão participando as/os seguintes jovens alunas/os brasileiras/os: Clarananda Barreira (Estudante de Ciências Sociais, JPT), Pedro Vasconcelos (Secretaria de Cultura – Prefeitura de São Leopoldo, JPT), Darcy Vieira Gomes (Estudante de Tecnologia, trabalhador da Câmara do Deputados, DF, JS–PDT), Diogo Frizzo (Estudante de Ciências Sociais da USP, assessor da Secretaria de Cultura da Prefeitura de Guarulhos – SP, JPT), Rafael Nicolau (Rel. Internacionais, ONG Sociedade Global), Vinicius Sartorato (Sociólogo, APEOESP, Central Única dos Trabalhadores, Coordenadora das Centrais Sindicais do Cone Sul, JPT).

Com uma proposta de curso que mescla ensino virtual e presencial, o curso trata de temas diversos como: Conjuntura Internacional; Horizontes Históricos da Integração Regional; Experiência de Integração e Organização de Cooperação em América Latina e Caribe; Mercosul – Aspectos Institucionais; Integração Comercial; Complementação de Políticas Públicas Regionais; Relacionamento Externo do Mercosul; As negociações do Acordo de Associação Interregional entre a União Européia e o Mercosul; Balanços gerais e cenários possíveis.

Iniciado a partir da plataforma virtual no período de 29JUN a 3JUL, o curso segue para sua última etapa (3) via Internet nesta próxima semana de 6 a 10 JUL.

Este curso está sendo promovido pelo convênio, CEFIR, INWENTe SOMOS MERCOSUL.

Sobre a CEFIR – é o Centro de Formação para Integração Regional (CEFIR) – (http://www.cefir.org.uy). No CEFIR encontra-se instalada a Secretaria Técnica do “Somos MERCOSUR”.
